My take on Pacific Rim
Wow this is awesome! The jaeger looks so real! Good job
I like it. A bright red color scheme akin to Typhoon and a forearm-mounted blade that screams "Gipsy's chain sword", and yet it feels unique.
Definitely makes me think of Echo Saber (Japanese Mark 4) and Shaolin Rogue (Chinese Mark 3). Wouldn't surprise me if one of those two looked just like this.
I love your Jaeger here. The way it is designed with the large pieces of metal plates gives it a sense of weight to me. Combined with how the parts aren't overly complicated, it makes the Jaeger look realistic (as real as a 300ft tall mech can get) and seems like it would fit in the movie perfectly. Not only is this my favorite "fan made" Jaeger that I have seen (and most likely the best drawn/colored one), but I honestly prefer your Jaeger over some of the ones in the movie.
Really great illustration!
Leatherback: Hey look everybody! I'm back from the dead, and ready for the sequel!
Red Jeager: Welcome back, Mister Leatherback! NOW DIE!!!
Leatherback: Holy crap! I'm coming Otachi honey! I'm coming back to you!
Sorry...I couldn't resist. Fantastic illustration though!
Well since the monsters are all clones any of them could come back. Im sure everyone noticed that Knifehead, Trespasser and Scunner all shared the same basic body with a head swap.
Sadly, that was more of a cost cutting measure than a conscious story based point, however well the identical bodies thing works with the clone situation.
And I love having silly fun with giant monsters, so the image of of Leatherback having a Red Fox style freak out, while calling out for his unofficial love Otachi, amuses me to no end.
That actually had me laughing out loud for a few minutes.
